Permalink Reply by Dion Trevall Gibson on June 13, 2011 at 11:41pm Pray to God for the fruit of boldness, i know it's difficult but if they are hindering you then it's necessary. Jesus chose carefully who his 12 disciples were and we have to be careful to choose are friends. The Bible says not to allow sinners to entice you, and the best way to do that is not to have fellowship with any but we can still show them the love of God but we have to be set apart from them for in the book of 2 Corinthians its says to not to be unequally yoked with unbelivers.
Permalink Reply by Pastor David Winston on June 14, 2011 at 12:33pm Morgan, I have to agree with Dion on the comment he left....it is about what is being sown in your heart. I don't use any foul language, and I never have a problem with it slipping out of my mouth when angered, emotional, etc. because I don't allow a steady diet of it to come into my heart.
I would encourage you to take an analysis on your life and examine all the ways that you are hearing or reading foul language. Then explore ways (with the Holy Spirit's help) that you can NOT allow that language to be inserted into your heart...because "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks" (Matt. 12:34). It's about eliminating what is being planted in abundance within your heart. The elimination process may include asking friends to edit their speech around you, spending less time with or eliminating some friends, staying away from some movies, editing your music choice, scaling back on any social media or reading materials that often include foul language, etc.
With God's help you CAN do this successfully, and I know that you WILL be the virtuous Proverbs 31 woman that God has called you to be!
