Pursuing Destiny means just being YOU! (Short Story)

The Story of the Mr. SUN & MOONY  by: David S. Winston

On the day that the Sun was made, the Sun was proud to be the Sun. It was made bright & shiny just like the glory of God. It gave heat for warmth, light to see, and a way to distinguish the day & night. Everyone was always happy when the Sun came around. The Sun was glad to be the Sun!

One day soon after, God said “Mr. Sun, I’m going to give you some company.” And on that day God created stars...He created planets...but He also created the Moon. The Moon was glad to be in space, and started to develop a friendship with his new homie Mr.Sun. 

As Mr. Sun and the Moon grew closer, he gave the Moon a nickname - “Moony.” Mr. Sun and Moony kicked it all the time, chillin in space with not a care in the universe. They even liked to play tricks on the people on earth... performing what we know as a “solar eclipse.” 

As time went on, Mr. Sun began to notice something. Despite the fact that he gave off heat and light, and spread joy to others...he was not getting the attention that Moony was getting. You see, everyone one started visiting Moony and making space missions to the moon. Mr. Sun saw this and became jealous. He wanted attention too and couldn’t understand why he wasn’t gettin any play. Mr. Sun became sad and said, “I know what I’ll do! I will become like Moony, and change into a moon. Then people from all over will want to visit me too...that will make me happy again." As Mr. Sun began to transform, all of the sudden things went dim...and then in a moment, all the light was GONE! 

Mr. Sun begin to look around, but he couldn’t see anything. He looked for the stars... He looked for the astronauts... He even looked for Moony... NOPE! Darkness was everywhere. He didn’t see anyone. He began to frown, as he was saddened that he was even more lonely than he was before. 

In that moment he called out to God, the Creator. Mr. Sun asked Him, “God, why am I suddenly all alone, and why do I feel so sad?” God replied, “Mr. Sun, you were created with a purpose. As long as you were fulfilling that purpose you were content. But when I placed other creations around you, jealously made you forget the very reason why you were created. When you started to become like the Moon you, you abandoned the things you were created to do: give light, give warmth, and spark happiness. What you failed to realize is that when I created the moon, I created him as a reflection of you. He only shines because your light lets him shine. Your light lets everyone shine. Without your light, no one shines...not even the Moon. When you fulfill your purpose, they fulfill theirs. You must learn not to be jealous of the attention that the Moon gets, because unlike the Moon, you provide heat, warmth, and happiness. Everyone needs the light and heat you provide...even Moony." 

You can affect the WORLD by simply deciding to be who God created YOU to be! Don't try to fulfill some one else's destiny. God made you completely on purpose...who you are, how you are, and what you are, for His glory, to achieve His will in the earth!
